Therapy for Moms of Teens

Motherhood is Forever! Parenting teenagers can be challenging and unpredictable. From managing teenage emotions and deciphering the latest slang, to dealing with online bullying and poor self-perception, teenagers and their parents can face dilemmas at every turn. As the parent of a teenager, especially one who is working toward independence with or without your blessing, you might feel helpless. I’m here to sit with you as you digest, process and work through the most recent curveball that has come your way. Work together, I can help your forever “burden” grow into a forever “gift” that you look forward to and cherish.

As a former school counselor who has heard all the stories and worked through many of the challenges side-by-side with teenagers and their parents, I’ve identified some frequently addressed topics that we can work on to help you navigate the difficult terrain of nurturing your teen.

Mothering/Parenting

  • Navigating your teenagers behaviors

  • Supporting your teens emotional wellbeing

  • Finding your triggers with your teens behavior

  • Setting boundaries with your teens mom

  • Acknowledging your needs as a mother

  • Exploring your response to the ways that sexuality and identity show up for your teen

  • Finding your playful side

  • Learning to let go of control

Mother/Teen Relationships Support

Bringing mothers, co-parents and teens together is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. As a relationship-oriented practitioner with training in TheraPlay I use a combination of talk therapy, play, and connection to help you and your teen communicate, heal wounds, (re)learn to play, accept each other, and find the space and safety to talk and listen with each other.  My role is to help as translator from mother to teen and teen to mother so you can fully and deeply hear what each wants and needs.
