Birth Trauma Reduction Programs (B-TRP)

Birth Trauma Reduction Plan (Prenatal Program)

Pregnancy is a full body experience.  When your body has been through trauma those traumas will resurface. By using movement and body based therapeutic interventions we will help you to better respond to your body's triggers and find the grounding you need to feel whole in your pregnancy and childbirth.

Facilitated By: Ellie Messinger-Adams LPCC, Kay Sanchez Franco AMFT, and Cherish Peacewalker

Postpartum Healing and Trauma Reduction

(Postpartum Program)

Childbirth is unpredictable and for many can be traumatic. This trauma can be physical or emotional and is on a spectrum from changes in the birth plan, disempowerment in the birth room, to medical concerns. For many women after these birth experiences they feel shame, guilt, fear, and isolation. By moving through the pain, bonding with your little one and connecting with other mamas who have experienced births you will begin to heal.

WHY THIS?

Traumatic birth experiences are a spectrum and affect 45% of birthing parents. Research suggests that with proper preparation these experiences can be reduced. What you will learn here will equip you through your life as a new parent and make space for you to bond and connect with your little one.

WHY NOW?

Pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting bring up trauma that we have experienced and didn’t realize we are still carrying. Each stage of parenting brings up your traumas from your childhood stages.

What is a B-TRP

What is B-TRP?

This Birth Trauma Reduction Program, (B-TRP) is the first of its kind. This program helps to support acceptance of the unpredictability of labor and delivery and the medical interventions that may be necessary. B-TRP will enhance your birth experience through development of proactive care plans and reduction of PMADs and trauma impact.

B-TRP utilizes somatic, TF-CBT, DBT, drama therapy, community, education & multicultural counseling methods that activate the limbic system, cerebellum, and prefrontal cortex at the clinically appropriate times regulating anxiety hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. This integrative approach allows us to also foster community, reducing isolation and loss of sense of self throughout pregnancy.

The B-TRP offerings are presented in collaboration with:
